A tunnelling candle can definitely be a problem! A candle can tunnel for multiple reasons. The most common reason is due to burning a candle improperly. Normally, you should let the candle burn long enough to melt the wax all the way across the candle each time you light it. If you don't let it melt all the way across and blow it out, it solidifies and leaves an indentation in the wax. Repeats of this cause a tunneling candle. It generally takes at least 1 hour to melt the wax all the way across. One way to fix a tunneling candle is to get the wax to a level that the flame can melt it all the way across the diameter of the candle. We have two suggestions for this: 1) Scoop the higher wax out with a spoon or a butter knife until the flame can melt the wax evenly. The removed wax works very well as an air freshener if you keep it in a small container. 2) You can take a hair dryer and melt the higher wax on the side so it settles to a more even surface. Before you try these steps, take a top and side view photo of your candle. If neither of these helps your candle to burn properly, then we need you to send our customer service team the pictures of your candle so we can clearly see the issue. The more pictures we have of a tunneling candle, the better prepared we can be to help with a solution.
Our JewelCandles with a surprise ring are 8cm in diameter and 17cm tall, our candles with surprise earrings have the same diameter, but are a little smaller: 11cm tall. You can find out more information on the product description of each candle.
Once your candle is burned to the bottom and there is either no, or just a little bit of wax left, dig the rest of it out and pour hot water with soap in the jar. Scrub the sides and the bottom until there is no more wax left. Now you can take off the labels. If the outside of the jar is still sticky, you can use some nail polish remover and a spoon to erase the rest. Some people also recommend putting the jar in the freezer for a little while which causes the wax to contract and then it will just easily pop right out with a knife.
Most of our JewelCandles are made from paraffin wax, but at the moment we are switching to palm wax, which has a softer consistency and makes revealing your Jewel an even more exciting experience!
There are lots of different scents to choose from! Just go to our website and have a look at the product description on our JewelCandles and you will be able to find out more about the scent of each JewelCandle
You can choose between a JewelCandle with a surprise ring, pendant, bracelet, or a pair of earrings. The exact style and size of the jewellery is a surprise that you’ll only discover when you’ve burned the candle for a few hours.
At the moment we work on a surprise model. Once we’ve made our JewelCandles, we don’t keep any record of what jewellery is in them, so the jewellery you receive is as much a surprise to you as it is to us!
